Salary and Terms of Service:
Salary range $18.45 to $23.86 per hour, eight (8) steps, eight (8) hours per day, five (5) days per week, twelve (12) months per year. Shift-Differential pay $.25 per hour after 6:00 p.m. Holidays, sick leave and vacation benefits. Partial pay medical, dental and vision. Retirement coverage with Public Employees Retirement System (PERS). Prepaid life insurance plan for employee only

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Drives a bus over a designated route in conformity with an established time schedule; picking up and discharging pupils at designated stops; supervises conduct of pupils being transported; transports children and teachers on field trips; assists in maintaining the bus equipment in clean and safe condition; sweeps the interior of buses and maintains windows in clean condition at all times; keep simple records and make reports; vacuum carpets, sweep, mop and wax floors; clean rest rooms; wash windows and walls, polish metal work; patch and prepare surfaces for painting; perform painting as necessary; assists in moving and arranging furniture and equipment; makes minor repairs; replaces light; cleans and pickup up paper on grounds; performs emergency cleanup service; sweeps outside walks; empties and cleans waste in pick-up containers; assists in handling supplies and unloading deliveries; attends training and safety sessions as required; reports unsafe conditions and adheres to all safety regulations related to AHERA; performs other duties as required by Supervisor.

Job Requirements: High School Diploma or G. E. D. Meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform the assigned duties. Ability to learn procedures, schedules, understand and carry out oral and written directions; perform moderately heavy manual activities; work independently; knowledge of common methods, materials and equipment used in this position; knowledge of traffic laws and safe driving practices, provisions of the California Motor Vehicle Code and the Education Code applicable to the operation of vehicles in the transportation of school children; basic preventive maintenance requirements of automotive equipment; establish and maintain cooperative relationships with all employees. Minimum of six (6) months experience as a bus driver. One (1) year experience in the care and cleaning of buildings and facilities. Possession of a valid California Class A or Class B Commercial Operator's License with "P" and "S" endorsements, a valid CA Special Driver's Certificate, a current Medical Exam (DL-51) card, and a current First Aid card (if #6 restriction is specified on the Special Driver's Certificate).
