SAN GABRIEL UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT TITLE: High School Assistant Principal—Career Technology Education (CTE), State and Federal Categorical Programs QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Valid California administrative credential authorizing service in a public school. 2. Bilingual/bicultural (Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese) is desirable. 3. Experience with categorical and/or R.O.P and CTE is a priority and required. 4. Minimum of three years experience teaching at the secondary level required. 5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: Principal SUPERVISES: Certificated and classified staff at the school site as assigned by the principal. JOB GOAL: To assist the principal in providing school wide leadership and to serve as acting principal in the absence of the principal. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school. 2. Serves as the principal in the absence of the regular principal. 3. Coordinates, implements, and monitors compliance aspects of the school’s Title I program including: review and submission of Semi-Annual Certification forms, Monthly Personnel Activity Reports, develop, monitor, and implement Title I budget, provide monthly budget reports to district and site stakeholders, purchase ordering and record keeping, reporting status/progress of program at monthly School Site Council meetings. 4. Supports the development of the Career Center in order to provide transition and post-secondary options for students. 5. Supports the Regional Occupancy Program by enrolling students, maintaining records, and processing requests for curricular support by ROP teachers. 6. Administers programs for public relations, and strengthens relationships with local businesses for the purpose of implementing the Career Technical Education aspects of the Educational Master Plan. Creates and implements plan to establish CTE course pathways through partnerships with local colleges and universities. 7. Develops and implements a plan to strengthen business relationships in order to develop internships and employment opportunities for students. 8. Is responsible for developing, submitting, and monitoring the Carl Perkins Plan. 9. Conducts safety inspections and safety drill practices, in addition to updating and maintaining the school’s emergency plan; evaluates the effectiveness of the procedures and keeps students, staff and parents informed of changes. 10. Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, and works with the attendance clerk for investigative follow-up action, including implementation of strategies to remediate attendance problems including truancy and tardy policies. Evaluates and revises parent communication procedures to ensure timely notification to parents regarding attendance and behavior problems of their students. 11. Shares responsibility for maintaining discipline throughout the student body, including handling discipline referrals, Saturday School, and deals with special cases as necessary. 12. Shares responsibility for the contacts made with the law enforcement agencies and for legal charges or warrants filed against students. 13. Performs such record-keeping functions as the principal may direct. 14. Supervises teachers and departments as assigned by the principal. 15. Assists in accreditation review and implementation. 16. Supervises activities at the direction of the principal. 17. Attends Individual Education Plan meetings as necessary. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work 215 days on a 12 month calendar year.
