DESCRIPTION

PLEASE NOTE:  Napa Valley College offices are closed December 24, 2018 through January 4, 2019.

 

Napa Valley College is seeking an individual with demonstrated administrative skills to join an outstanding team of faculty, staff, and administrators to provide high quality programs and services to our district, our community, and most importantly, our students. In support of the Napa Valley College District's mission, our Facilities department provides services that support the physical and natural environment of the college.  They serve more than 9,000 students at our main campus in Napa and our campus in St. Helena.  Their job is to ensure that our buildings and grounds are maintained in the best possible condition to enhance the teaching and learning environment.  The incumbent in this position will be responsible for directing and supervising the daily activities and resources related to District grounds, custodial, warehouse, printing, shipping/receiving, and mail operations.  Participates as part of the Facilities Services Leadership Team. The position reports to the Director, Facilities Services.

 

This is a full-time, 12-months-per-year, classified administrative position.  Evening supervision is required due to the team's multiple shifts.  The salary is appropriate placement on Range 13 of the current Administrative/Confidential salary schedule.  Initial salary placement is $6,067 to $6,689 month, with future steps up to $7,743/month.  Placement on the salary schedule is commensurate with experience.  The college offers a fringe benefit package including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, employee assistance program, and retirement system membership.  Assignment includes 19 paid holidays, 22 vacation days, and 12 days sick leave annually.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education:

• Earned Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; OR

• Earned Associate degree in a building trade program from an accredited institution.

 

Experience: 

Five years maintenance experience in the maintenance and operations of a large facility and journey-level experience in at least one of the building trades.

• Three years supervisory experience.

• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic background of community college students.

 

Requirements:

Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the state of California.

• Possession of or eligibility for a State of California Pesticide Applicator's license.

 

Desirable Qualifications 

Earned Bachelor's degree in management or engineering from an accredited institution.

• Review and select products and equipment for purchase.

• Demonstrated strong organizational skills.

• Demonstrated experience using building automation and climate control systems.

• Experience in a large public setting.
