Requirements / Qualifications

We have openings for Associate Counselors in our EOPS Department. Associate Counselor applications are accepted on a continuous basis for all disciplines. Applications which meet the required minimum qualifications are kept on file in an electronic format for 6-months from the date the District verifies the applicant's qualifications. Various deans and/or department chairs will have access to these applications and as needs arise throughout the District they will contact those applicants they are interested in interviewing for positions they anticipate will become available. ABOUT ASSOCIATE COUNSELORS Mt. San Jacinto Community College District accepts Associate (part-time) Counselor applications on an on-going basis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. A Master's degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling; AND 2. Nine (9) semester units of college coursework predominantly relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantages SUBSTITUTIONS Substitutions for meeting the education requirement of this position are allowed as follows. 1. A Master's degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling; AND 2. Have completed six semester units or the equivalent of a college-level counseling practicum or counseling field-work courses in a community college EOPS program, or in a program dealing predominantly with ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantages; AND 3. In addition, an EOPS counselor shall have two years of occupational experience in work relating to ethnic minorities or persons handicapped by language, social or economic disadvantages
