Course:  Analytical Writing

Program dates:  June 17 – July 26, 2019 (6 weeks)

Tentative Class schedule:  Monday & Thursday

Daily schedule: 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Location:  UC Berkeley campus

Pay:  $2600 per course

 

Analytical Writing

for students entering grade 10 or 11

This course, taught at the advanced high school level, will allow students to strengthen their analytical reading and writing skills. Students will practice reading with care and will hold meaningful discussions about the texts they study. They will learn to produce well-organized, well-written, well-developed, and intellectually complex essays. They will perform the stages of writing from clarifiction of the assignment to final revision, working on grammar, composition, and editing.

Experience teaching K-12 academically advanced students in proposed subject matter. Experience developing and implementing student-centered or project-based curricula that successfully engages students and facilitates learning. In addition to teaching responsibilities, duties include: holding office hours, assigning grades, writing student evaluations, advising students, attending faculty meetings, and preparing course materials. Teachers are also required to attend a Faculty-wide meeting in May 2019; SD instructors must attend the Student/Parent orientation in June 2019. ED instructors must attend the Student/Parent Orientation in July 2019.
