POSITION SUMMARY: The current vacancy is located in Hollister. The current vacancy requires bilingual Spanish and candidates are strongly encouraged to apply to be considered for future opportunities. The Student Services & Support Division is accepting applications for Home Visiting Specialist - Early Head Start (Restricted). Under the direct supervision of Supervisor - Home Based Program – Early Head Start/Restricted, the Home Visiting Specialist – Early Head Start - Restricted is responsible for providing intensive and comprehensive child development and family support services to enhance the physical, social, emotional and intellectual development of participating children. The Home Visiting Specialist - Early Head Start - Restricted promotes positive parent-child interactions and provides resources to parents in a home-based setting to support parents in their roles. The Home Visiting Specialist - Early Head Start– Restricted is also responsible for coordinating and leading socialization sessions with groups of children and their families. The Home Visiting Specialist - Early Head Start is a restricted class. Positions assigned to restricted classes are paid from funds budgeted for the Head Start Program. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: Education: AA/AS degree from an accredited college with major coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Services, Social Services or related field AND, Experience: One (1) year of experience working with children, families, community groups and public agencies, providing safety, child or mental health consultation Please note, experience providing home visitation services for parents, infants, toddlers, and preschoolers and serving families with disabilities is preferred

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to complete three units of Infant/Toddler education within one year after hire
  • Valid California driver's license

    EXAMINATION PROCEDURES: Following the final filing date, the qualifications of all candidates will be evaluated. The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a written exam, tentatively scheduled for Friday, November 30, 2018. Those who pass the written exam will be invited to participate in a panel interview with subject matter experts, tentatively scheduled for the week of December 3, 2018. Based on the final scores of qualified candidates, Classified Personnel Services will establish a ranked candidate list. Selected candidates from the list will be invited to a second interview with the hiring authorities, tentatively scheduled for week of December 10, 2018. Candidates will be invited over email to participate in examination and selection steps, using the email supplied within their Neogov applications, or as updated by candidates in their Neogov master profiles. Therefore, it is recommended that candidates check their email at least daily. NOTE: Examination procedures are subject to change as deemed necessary by the Director - Classified Personnel Services.
