Job Description / Essential Elements:    Print   

Instructor - Classified

The Instructor is a classified, exempt position with Dimensions Collaborative School, which is operated by Element Education.  The Instructor reports to the Regional Manager and the School Director and is primarily responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing group instruction in specific content areas.  

Essential Functions

Support Student Learning (SSL)

  1. Provide learning center course instruction including preparation

  2. Provide syllabi, communiqués, and assignments to the Regional Manager each learning period

  3. Collaborate with the Educational Facilitator in evaluating student work for learning center classes

  4. Assist with the coordination of subject area classes offered at learning centers including, but not limited to, planning and ordering supplies

  5. Provide project updates to the Regional Manager

  6. Assist with supervision of the region as needed

  7. Collaborate, instruct, and meet with students, parents, and colleagues virtually, as-needed

Accountability and General Administration (AGA)

  1. Manage school resources in accordance with school policies and procedures

  2. Support students in preparation for and completion of state standardized tests

  3. Attend and participate in all required meetings, trainings, and school functions; Promote and participate in creative exchange of ideas

  4. Comply with all aspects of the safety plan

  5. Observes confidentiality

  6. Return all correspondence, including phone calls and emails, within 24 hours; Be accessible during business hours and respond to administrative needs and inquiries in a timely manner

Public Relations (PR)

  1. Communicate school highlights and activities to parents

  2. Seek opportunities for parents and students to connect with and support each other

  3. Develop a positive relationship with parents and the general public associated with the organization

  4. Communicate and support the school’s mission, policies, and procedures

  5. Represent Element Education and its programs in a positive and professional manner

Professional and Organizational Development (POD)

  1. Read a minimum of two books from required/recommended reading lists annually

  2. Seek innovative approaches to self-directed learning and formal training

  3. Practice reflective observation regularly; Maintain growth mindset

  4. In collaboration with the School Director, plan for own career growth and ongoing professional development

  5. Understand and contribute to the Organization’s vision, growth, and development

  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSA)

  1. Understanding of Personalized Learning Model

  2. Knowledge of and experience with a wide range of K-12 curricula in all subject areas

  3. Knowledge of and experience with a wide range of educational philosophies

  4. Knowledge of the A-G requirements for high school students on the UC/CSU path

  5. Ability to manage a home office and flexible schedule

  6. Familiarity and commitment to the mission and educational philosophy of Element Education

  7. Ability to maintain records

  8. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding parents, families, and staff

  9. Ability to exercise emotional maturity in communicating with students, parents, and colleagues

  10. Demonstrate considerable knowledge of computers and all aspects of the Microsoft Office

  11. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines

  12. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Use appropriate language, tone, and English usage

  13. Demonstrate good judgement

  14. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships; be approachable and professional

Requirements

  1. Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

  2. Phone, internet, and scanner for school business

Upon Hire/Offer:

  1. First Aid/CPR/AED certification

  2. Proof that employee is free of active tuberculosis (i.e. TB risk assessment, TB test, X-ray, etc.)

  3. Reliable vehicle and 100/300 auto insurance coverage

  4. Successful background clearance

Preferred:

1. Candidate willing and able to participate in an intern credential program the first 2 years of employment. Candidate will be working toward a credential in a method approved and monitored by the Director of Human Resources.

 

Salary: $40,841 - $63,358

The employee must have reliable transportation and be able to attend meetings at various Element Education regions.
