Desired Qualifications for HEAD VARSITY AQUATICS PROGRAM COACH:

*Head Coaching Experience preferred;

*In depth content area knowledge through previous coaching and/or playing
experience;

*Strong organizational skills;

*Ability to motivate student-athletes within a positive environment;

*Ability to communicate effectively with the students/parents/administration;

*Ability to oversee all levels of the program, including staffing;

*Ability to do fund raising and manage the funds;

*Ability to maintain pre-season and summer programs; and,

*A willingness to continue professional growth.

ACTIVITY SUPERVISOR CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE (Summarized)
Assembly Bill (AB) 1025 (Chap. 379, Stats. 2009) requires non-certificated individuals, prior to starting a paid or non-paid position, supervising, directing, or coaching a student activity program sponsored by, or affiliated with, a school district or county office of education to obtain an Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate (ASCC) from the Commission...These positions may be paid by the local employing agency, by another source such as a booster club, or the individual may be a volunteer.

AB 1025 makes specific employees and volunteers subject to uniform fingerprinting and Commission character and fitness reviews by submitting fingerprints for state and federal criminal record checks.

The ASCC is not limited to one employing agency but may be used in all California public school districts.

Individuals NOT required to hold the ASCC include: Individuals holding an unexpired teaching or services credential, children’s center or child development permit, emergency permits including the Emergency 30-Day Substitute Permit, Provisional Internship or Short-Term Staff Permit, or a Variable Term Waiver issued by the Commission.

AB 1025 requires classified employees who supervise, direct or coach a student activity program to apply for the ASCC.

MANDATORY IMPLEMENTATION DATES FOR THIS CERTIFICATION Effective—January 1, 2010

Certificate Requirements ALL of the following:

1. Complete fingerprint processing by LiveScan using Form 41-LS on the Commission website, and

2. Submit an application and processing fee for the ASCC electronically through the Commission’s website using the Online Direct Application Process when available...Expected completion date is Spring 2010.

Period of Validity: The ASCC is valid for five years. The individual must renew electronically through the CCTC's Online Direct Application process. Timely renewals (prior to the ASCC's expiration date) will not need tp redo the fingerprint process for clearance.
