Summary:


Specialty Program Homeschool Teachers support and monitor high school students enrolled through Inspire’s Specialty Program Partners.  High school is an adjustment and most students need additional support in many different ways.  The Homeschool Teacher works closely with the student, family, content teachers, counselors, directors, and specialty program partner employees to ensure the needs of each student are being met.  Homeschool Teachers maintain an in-person schedule set by the specialty program partner, in combination with the hours dedicated to Inspire Homeschool Teacher duties.  Inspire Homeschool Teachers start at a part-time basis and are paid by student and at 20 students are paid as a full-time employee.  No other employment after full-time status is achieved is allowed during workday hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.


Duties & Responsibilities:


Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as, meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrate respect for others

  • Be available each school day from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday

  • Attend All Staff meetings (school-wide and high school meetings)

  • Maintain professional, positive, ethical, cooperative relationships with students, parents, other staff, administration, and other community members.

  • Ensure all procedures and policies are followed to promote a safe-learning environment

  • Work as the liaison between specialty program families/students and Inspire Charter Schools

  • Promptly share school-wide or high school specific announcements

  • Make sure feedback or concerns are brought to administrative staff


Work closely with students, parents, teachers, counselors, community members, and staff members to support overall student success

  • Assist with all Homeschool Teacher enrollment duties for the specialty program partner

  • Complete registration packet with students/families as designated by specialty program partner

  • Create and send Master Agreements and Addendums

  • Order curriculum and verify course accuracy and access

  • Work with counselors to create and monitor Individualized Graduation Plans

  • Respond to incoming calls, emails, and inquiries in a timely manner

  • Contact (email/call/in-person) students weekly

  • Automated response when not immediately available

  • Personalized response by the end of the work day

  • Monitor student progress and use data to inform support plan

  • Create an Academic Success Action Plan (ASAP) for student to scaffold learning objectives

  • Monitor student compliance:

  • Collect weekly attendance roster at program location

  • Collect attendance logs each learning period and claim accurate attendance in the Student Information System

  • Send out certified noncompliance letters

  • Refer escalated compliance issues to Inspire HS Specialty Program Director for administrative conference

  • Create and upload Work Records onto Student Information System

  • Work with parents and various Inspire departments to ensure students are receiving the correct supports  

  • Follow-up with ordering and fulfilling Vendor/Tech requests

  • Assist in proctoring exams (SBAC, PFT, and other mandated tests)

  • Coordinate with Enrollment Specialists to help families through the enrollment process

  • Work with school counselor to update Individualized Graduation Plan (IGP)

  • Assist in Inspire activities, workshops, and events

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Valid California teaching credential

  • Computer literacy required

  • Ability to function effectively in different educational situations

  • Demonstrate an understanding, patient, and receptive attitude toward students of varied ability and varied age groups

  • Communicate effectively in oral and written form in English

  • Perform routine clerical tasks and operate a variety of educational and office related equipment

  • Establish and maintain cooperative and positive working relationships with students and adults
