JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: CUSTODIAN – BUS DRIVER RANGE: 9

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Under general supervision of the District Director of Maintenance and Operations, this classified employee performs assigned tasks including but not limited to:

Performs custodial services required to maintain assigned school buildings and building areas.
Sweep, mop, clean, strip and wax as necessary, all uncarpeted floor coverings.
Spot cleans carpets on a regular basis and steam cleans when needed.
Cleans and sanitizes all wash basins, sinks, urinals, toilet bowls and other fixtures.
Cleans mirrors and windows on a regular basis. Cleans, dusts and polishes woodwork as assigned.
Empties trash containers in classrooms, work areas and administrative offices.
Replaces light bulbs, replenishes paper products, trash liners etc.
Checks lights and locks on doors and windows.
Maintains materials and equipment in good working condition.
Makes minor equipment repairs and notifies Director immediately of need for professional repairs.
Immediately notifies supervisor of special circumstances or concerns that may arise.
Sets up furniture and equipment for athletic and/or other special events or meetings.
Performs ground maintenance work, painting or other custodial-maintenance projects.
Drives School Bus over designated routes in accordance with time schedules.
Makes inspection of bus for proper maintenance and safety prior to each trip and reports irregularities to the Director.
Keeps buses clean, inside and out.
Maintains good order among students on buses, following District Policies regarding the disciplining of children and contact with parents and other children.
Keeps accurate records of trips, mileage traveled by each student for quarterly reports and provides timely information to the Director.
Conducts semi-annual evacuation drills.
Participates in training as designated by Director.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by District and/or Site Supervisors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

? Must posses a high school diploma or equivalent.
? Knowledge of and ability to operate and maintain power cleaning equipment, mowers, edgers, hand power tools and a variety of equipment.
? Must possess a valid California Class B Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement.
? Must possess a Valid School Bus Driver’s Certificate or as a condition of continued employment, agree to obtain Bus Driver’s Certificate.
? Clean DMV.
? Must Submit to Pre-employment Drug Screening
? Ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with supervisors, students, community, teachers, administrators and co-workers.
