Position Summary
General Responsibilities:
The faculty member shall be responsible for the following: teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content: assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in their regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; and fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member as outlined in the college faculty handbook.
Cosumnes River College’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
Assignment Responsibilities
Diagnostic Medical Sonography Assistant Professor (60%)
The instructional assignment may include, but is not limited to:
? Teaching any of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Allied Health courses.
? Teaching any of the Clinical Experience Courses I-IV.
? Engaging with the industry advisory committee to ensure that the curriculum meets the needs of industry, accreditation, and the community.
? Supporting student success, student career employment, and job placements.
? Measuring and assessing student learning outcomes.
? Completing program review.
? Completing five (5) hours of college service per week.
? Holding three (3) office hours per week, two of which can be on-line.
? Attending technical training, workshops, and conferences, and applying the knowledge to teaching.
The instructional assignment may include day, evening, on-line, hybrid, weekends and/or off campus classes.
Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Director (40%)
Typical duties may include, but are not limited to:
? Maintaining accreditation status in good standing and ensuring the program is in compliance with accreditation standards at all times.
? Overseeing the daily operation of the program including organization, administration, periodic review and evaluation, continued development and general effectiveness of program curricula.
? Ensuring effectiveness of clinical affiliates/clinical education centers is maintained.
? Tracking student work in the clinical experience courses to ensure students are making appropriate progress.
? Managing the program budget and inventory.
? Facilitating establishment of clinical sites for practicums.
? Developing and revising curriculum.
? Assisting with schedule development.
? Participating in regional advisory board meetings.
? Maintaining student records.
? Developing reports required for accreditation.
? Leading the selection committee for the incoming 2019 cohort.
? Performing other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, completed by January 2, 2019.
2. Have coursework in instructional methodologies, evaluation, and assessment (per ASCCC Minimum Qualifications).
3. Hold an American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) credential (per ASCCC Minimum Qualifications).
4. Hold an ARDMS certification in Abdomen (AB) and Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) with Vascular Technology (VT) experience (per Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)).
5. Have proficiency in curriculum development (per Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)).
6. Possess a minimum of two years of full-time experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field. Full-time is defined as 35 hours per week (per Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)).
7.
