PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES PROVIDER
DEFINITION
Psychological Services Provider works under general supervision and is assigned to various schools to provide mental health counseling and counseling services related to Individualized Education Program (IEP) in accordance with applicable professional licensing laws to students and students with disabilities inclusive of: coordination of services and/or case management; delivery of educational consultation services, collaboration with community agencies, and the public; providing clinical supervision and training, if assigned; and perform related work as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Depending on the assignment, general direction is provided by the Director of Student Wellness Services or the Executive Director of Special Education Department. 
If licensed, provides clinical supervision and training to assigned support staff, when needed.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Provides a variety of psychological related services to identified students.
Conducts interviews, assessments (including threat assessments) and observations.
Provides crisis intervention, treatment, case management, and other related mental health services to general education students and students with behavioral and emotional challenges.
Prepares reports and/or case histories with an emphasis upon social-emotional factors affecting the student.
Participates in a variety of meetings including Individual Education Program planning meetings, 504 meetings case reviews, and related meetings.
Writes measurable social-emotional goals/objectives for individual students and monitors progress. 
Engages in psychoeducation activities with students, parents, and caregivers.
Refers students to other public/private community agencies, as appropriate.
Collaborates with other educational and community agency staff to implement service plans for students.
Delivers individual, group and parent counseling services to children in schools with behavioral and emotional challenges towards the goal of achieving higher functioning in interpersonal relations and learning.
Provides in-service training to parents, community agencies, students, educational personnel and others.
Maintains documentation in accordance with the state laws and professional standards.
Participates in various professional development trainings and attends Individualized Education Program (IEP) team meetings.
Completes Local Educational Agency (LEA) billing as assigned and required.
CLASS QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Principles and techniques of psychological services consultation and service delivery models.
Therapy methods appropriate to meeting the needs of all students and their families.
Agencies and resources available to assist students.
Federal and State laws concerning special education and related services.
Leadership skills.
Recordkeeping procedures.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to:
Provide psychological related services to students and their families.  
Complete assessments including threat assessments.
           
Deliver services to students with behavioral and emotional challenges.
Conduct individual, group, and family therapy sessions.
Identify the socio-emotional needs of students.
Work as part of a multidisciplinary educational support team to develop and implement appropriate psychological related services.
Provide in-service training.
Work independently.
Communicate effectively in oral and written form.
Maintain accurate records.
Meet established time lines.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Be insured and maintain vehicle liability and property damage insurance.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Minimum Requirements:
License and Credential 
A current valid license as a: 
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (Marriage Family and Child Counselor) or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences with a valid Pupil Personnel Service Credential or PPS in progress specializing in school counseling, school social work or school psychology.
OR
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist or an Associate Clinical Social Worker registered with California Board of Behavioral Sciences with a valid Pupil Personnel Service Credential or PPS in progress specializing in school counseling, school social work or school psychology.
OR
Master’s Degree in counseling, psychology or related field in behavioral sciences with a valid Pupil Personnel Service Credential or PPS in progress specializing in school counseling, school social work or social psychology.
And,
A valid California Class C driver license with a valid auto liability insurance coverage in compliance with the state minimum coverage requirements.
A valid First Aid and CPR certificate or possession of First Aid and CPR certification within thirty (30) days of date of hire.
          
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience working with psychological services programs in an educational setting.
Experience working with mental health issues and services for children and adolescents.
 
Experience working with children and adolescents with behavioral and emotional challenges.
 
Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Written and oral proficiency in a second language.

Working Conditions:
Environment:
Regularly works in an office or school environment; occasionally outside; will be required to use a personal vehicle in the course of duties; and may be required to attend meetings. Work environment is generally clean and the noise level is usually moderate.
Physical Demands:
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer and other office equipment; lift moderate weights up to 20 (twenty) pounds; sit or stand for extended periods of time; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch to file; seeing to view a computer monitor and read a variety of materials; and hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the phone with an individual or a group. Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: Education: Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology or; School Counseling with LPCC License or; Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or related field which includes successful completion of an internship within a school-based setting and/or experience working with adolescents and teenagers. Extensive experience working with teenagers in crisis and suicide intervention preferred. License or Certificate: Valid Pupil Personnel Services credential (PPS) in School Counseling or Psychology, or Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (MFT) or; Licensed Social Worker (LSW). Demonstrated consultation and leadership skills. Demonstrated psychological assessment and counseling skills. First Aid and CPR certification. Possession of a valid State of California Class C driver's license. Desirable: Experience working with psychological services programs in an educational setting. Written and oral proficiency in a second language. Physical Abilities: Sitting or standing for extended periods of time, hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations.
