Requirements / Qualifications

    The Tariq Khamisa Foundation (TKF) is a San Diego nonprofit with a mission to educate and inspire children in the restorative principles of accountability, compassion, forgiveness, peacemaking and support for safer schools and communities. TKF's innovative services, that promote learning through restorative practice principles, are proven to be effective in positively impacting youth's behaviors and attitudes, increasing their educational opportunities, and improving school climate. TKF's interventions educate and support children within a healing approach to repair harm, problem solve, teach peace, and build relationships. All TKF interventions are delivered through partnership agreements with local school districts and are conducted on school sites.

    TKF is seeking to immediately hire a part-time facilitator to conduct its classroom curriculum created to instruct students in social-emotional developmental skills. The curriculum is a ten-session workshop series conducted in 45 to 50 minutes of instruction and classroom activities. Scheduling of facilitation may vary based on agreements with school partners. Facilitator will need to be available for a minimum of three days per week during regular school hours. Training on the workshop curriculum is provided to ensure quality and consistency in delivery. Must have experience working in schools. Supervisory experience and Spanish-speaking capabilities are a plus. Position reports to TKF Program Director.

    Requirements:
    • Must have three years of classroom teaching experience.
    • Can effectively deliver information in a clear, compelling, and concise manner to meet the desired learning objectives of the TKF curriculum.
    • Friendly, patient, flexible, and sensitive to the needs of a diverse student population.
    • Effective in performing and maintaining student behavioral and classroom management tasks.
    • Ability to communicate at a professional level with TKF and school staff.
    • Bilingual and cultural sensitivity a plus.

    Credential Requirements:
    • College Graduate.
    • Classroom instructional experience required.
    • Teaching certification preferred.
    • Pass FBI/DOJ background check and recent Tuberculosis Test.
