TUSTIN UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT ACCOUNT CLERK I Range 39 DEFINITION: The Account Clerk I, Nutrition Services, under the general supervision of the Director, Nutrition Services, performs complex technical accounting work including keeping profit and loss statements, and reviewing and maintaining District financial and statistical records. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Maintains ledgers of appropriations, encumbrances, expenditures, and unencumbered balances for various funds and accounts including local, state, and federal programs. • Screens financial documents for accuracy and adherence to legal and procedural requirements; submits reports as required by law. • Reviews and maintains District budget records including profit and loss statements. • Processes and audits invoices. • Processes budget data forms and codes expenditures. • Establishes and maintains pertinent files and records. • Contacts District personnel or outside sources regarding fiscal matters. • Performs related tasks as required. QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: • The methods, practices, and terminology used in bookkeeping, statistical and financial record management. • Preparation of balance sheets and profit/loss statements. • Modern office practices, procedures, and machines. • Health regulations and safe working methods and procedures. • Proper lifting techniques. • District policies, rules and regulations. Ability to: • Effectively and efficiently perform general and complex accounting clerical functions. • Make mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy. • Effectively operate standard business machines, equipment and software applications. • Type or keyboard correctly. Education/Training/Required Certification: • High school graduate or equivalent. • Three years of experience in financial or statistical record-keeping. • College courses in accounting, finance or related field desirable.
