Requirements / Qualifications
Rise Kohyang Middle School (6th to 8th grade), located in Koreatown, Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a Full Time Behavior Implementation Interventionist (Immediate Start Date). JOB DESCRIPTION Assists teachers in providing instructional and behavioral support to a specialized caseload of students with disabilities (including students with Autism, ADHD, or Emotional Disturbance); monitors and redirects students regarding inappropriate behaviors; positively reinforces appropriate behaviors; enforces and monitors the Behavior Support Plan of identified students with IEPs; complies with the frequency of Behavior Intervention Implementation (BII) services assigned to student per their IEP; performs a variety of specialized tasks to meet the instructional, behavioral and social needs of assigned caseload of students with disabilities; administers Intensive Behavior Intervention methods based on the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) model, to identified students within our Inclusive Education program; performs a variety of clerical duties as assigned. SUPERVISION Immediate supervision is provided by assigned personnel (classroom teacher, Inclusion Specialist Teacher, and/or School Psychologist). Indirect supervision is provided by administrative personnel (Principal, Director of Inclusive Education).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Candidates for this classification must meet the following standards: 1. The equivalent of graduation from high school* and one of the following: Completion of at least two years of study (48 semester units or 60 quarter units) at an institution of higher education; OR Attainment of an Associate of Arts degree or higher * Verification will be required for high school graduation, college units, and degrees. 2. One year of paid or volunteer experience working with school-age children 3. Pass a Department of Justice background check (Livescan) Knowledge of: - Oral and written communication skills, including correct English usage, grammar, and spelling. - Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. - Special Education Compliance - Basic record keeping and data tracking procedures. - Classroom procedures and rules of conduct. - Basic emergency, first aid, and health care techniques. - Complete tasks in a timely manner. Desirable Qualifications: - Completion of coursework at an accredited institution of higher education in child development, education, and/or psychology is desirable. - One year of experience working with handicapped students, including students with autism, and some demonstrated experience implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)-based behavior intervention techniques. - One year of experience at the level of an Education Assistant, Instructional Assistant or Assistant/Aide - Experience in observing and charting student behavioral data. - Training in implementing Behavior Intervention techniques.

- Administers one-on-one ABA-based Intensive Behavior Intervention methods to designated students in a school setting as directed by supervisor or other Inclusion specialist.
- Implements documented Behavior Support Plans
- Monitors, observes and reports behavioral data of students according to approved procedures.
- Assists students by providing appropriate modeling, emotional support, a friendly attitude, and general guidance.
- Conducts record review of student data (Cumulative file, Individualized Education Programs, Behavior Support Plans, Functional Behavioral Analysis Assessment, Psycho-educational Assessments).
- Communicates with teachers, parents, and assigned staff regarding student progress.
- Assists students in learning proper social awareness and in developing independence.
- Performs specialized physical health care services and administers medication as directed.
- Communicates students' needs to the teacher.
- Assist teacher in supervision of assigned students in physical and instructional activities.
- Attends weekly department meetings for the Inclusive Education department.
- Performs related tasks as required.
