In your letter of introduction, please provide a statement of your educational philosophy, including your understanding of the importance of traits like curiosity, open-mindedness, intellectual courage, or any of IVA's other nine "master virtues" (http://www.ivalongbeach.org/master-virtues/) to educational goals and practice. Your lesson plan should not teach intellectual virtues but provide students an opportunity to practice virtues through your history/social studies curriculum.
