About the Employer

We are a unified school district serving more than 16,150 students in grades K -12. We have thirteen elementary schools, four middle schools, two comprehensive high schools, three specialized high schools, two alternative high schools and one K-8 school. We also offer a home schooling program, adult education courses and other unique programs to fit the needs of all students. Our school district employs approximately 1,100 certificated and nearly 900 classified employees. Antioch Unified School District is centrally located in the East Bay and provides ready access to scenic mountains, waterfronts, wine country, historical sites and the Pacific Ocean. Antioch is known as the “Gateway to the Delta” and is one of California’s oldest cities, with a diverse community of approximately 100,000. The Antioch Unified School District is a Merit System District. As such, final selection of our classified staff members will be made from candidates who have been placed on an eligibility list. Eligibility is determined via an evaluation and competitive screening/scoring of a candidate’s training and experience as demonstrated on the application and responses provided in the supplemental questions.

SUBSTITUTE / ON CALL - CUSTODIAN – SWING SHIFT Hours/Months: SUBSTITUTE / ON CALL – 0 HOURS UP TO 40 HOURS WEEKLY Number of Positions: 5 Substitute positions Hourly Salary: Step A = $18.32 Ideal Candidate: Seeking individuals with sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities to perform routine custodial duties at a designated school site during an assigned shift (days/swing). Someone who will maintain buildings and adjacent ground areas in a clean, orderly, safe and secure condition. These positions are for those that are interested in working on-call and as-needed to service the district needs during employee absences or position vacancies. Basic Function: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform routine custodial duties at a designated school or District site during an assigned shift; maintain buildings and adjacent grounds areas in a clean, orderly, safe and secure condition. Knowledge Of: Proper methods, techniques, materials, tools and equipment used in modern custodial work. Modern cleaning methods including basic methods of cleaning floors, carpets, furniture, walls and fixtures. Proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies. Requirements of maintaining District buildings in a safe, clean and orderly condition. Appropriate safety precautions and procedures. Proper lifting techniques.

The selection process will consist of a competitive qualifying application screening and interview. Do not leave any fields blank on the application. Incomplete applications will not be considered. This recruitment is for substitute / on call / at will employment in the classification family of Custodian. This recruitment is NOT for the use of an eligibility list to employ permanent employees.
