Summary: IT technician / site assistants typically work in a warehouse. They maintain computer equipment by refreshing hardware and software, repairing equipment, and providing daily support for student and staff network users. Assistants will process and fulfill student device requests and responsible for tracking various aspects of the school's computer equipment. As a site assistant may work at the resource center’s help desk answering calls, emails, and various other tasks regarding the daily operations of the site.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Additional duties may be assigned.

IT Assistant:

  • Process and fulfill the IT/CWCS Catalogue PO requests for a student computer and/or electronic device submitted by a student’s Education Specialists (ES) in the Online Purchasing System (OPS) for all the school’s networks.
  • Maintains and updates the school’s computer device custom equipment item descriptions, pricing in the OPS custom catalogue.
  • Communicates with the site’s library assistant(s) to update the OPS device catalogue accordingly as each school’s available inventory changes throughout the school year.
  • Assists with the checking-in and/or out the requested computer device(s) in the BookTracks inventory system.  Reports damaged device(s) returned to the center(s) to the IT technician.
  • Provides technical assistance in maintaining, refreshing, and/or repairing the school’s computer equipment at all site locations.
  • Assists in the setting-up and barcoding new computer equipment and Verizon MIFI devices for the assessment department. In addition to tracking the check-out and returning of this inventory.
  • Responsible for following and updating all of the OPS device requests and computer related policies and procedures.
  • Reports to the school’s  IT Technician.

 

Resource Center Site Assistant:

 

  • Receptionist: Warmly greet families coming into the learning center. Answer basic school questions, give out charters, enrollment forms, informational flyers, etc., and refer questions on to the responsible person.
  • Answer the telephone:  Check messages and return calls.  Give out basic school information. Mail out enrollment and other forms as necessary. Refer questions on to the responsible person.
  • Learning Center Activities: Maintain a master calendar of all center activities. Keep a current posting available of area activities. Distributes activity information to all ESs from parent groups and individual ESs.
  • Supervise use of resource centers by parents and students: Schedules usage of center items (computers, classes, and videos) and make sure items are used correctly and not abused.
  • Resource Library: Check materials in and out in accordance with established procedures.
  • Receive Materials: Make sure that materials shipped are all received as listed, notify the ES of their materials arrival and store in designated area.
  • Check out supplies: Check out supplies to the families in accordance with established procedures.
  • Run errands when needed for school business to:  Staples, Costco, etc.
  • Performs a wide variety of responsible clerical and secretarial support duties.
  • Type from straight copy or rough draft, letters, reports, bulletins, and memoranda, including material of a confidential nature.
  • Maintains files, including files of confidential material.
  • Creates flyers and visuals.
  • Assist students and employees with computer needs
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Operates a variety of office machines
  • Other duties as may be assigned by either the Executive Director or designee

Education and/or Experience:

 

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to four year related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge and moderate level of experience using the Internet, Google Chrome, Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets, and Powerpoint. Excellent computer hardware and software skills, and the ability to diagnose and fix computer related problems. Type minimum of 50 wpm.
