Requirements / Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS ? California Multiple Subject Credential and CLAD or AB1059, demonstrating compliance with the NCLB highly qualified teacher status as defined by the California Department of Education. ? A minimum of one year of lead elementary teaching experience in the classroom. ? Knowledge of different 6th grade units of study and interest in designing rich and rigorous interdisciplinary curriculum using a backwards-planning framework (Teaching for Understanding, Understanding by Design, etc.) to address a range of diverse learners. ? Experience in implementing best practices related to inquiry and workshop-based instruction. ? Knowledge of the Common Core and California State Content Standards. ? Ability to design and/or use a variety of assessment tools and techniques to guide instruction. ? Demonstrated success in differentiating instruction in public school classroom settings. ? Interest and skill in working as part of team to develop and implement a state-of-the-art curriculum as well as rich outdoor education and technology integration. ? Interest in working in a school community with a high degree of parent/family participation. ? Commitment to attend committee meetings, lead school-wide initiatives, utilize parents as volunteers in the classroom, and attend occasional evening meetings.

For mathematics, this person is responsible for teaching our Curriculum Associates math curriculum. Social Studies and Science are taught via in-depth and often arts- and STEAM-integrated units. QUALITIES WE SEEK We are looking for excellent teachers and leaders with a passionate and relentless commitment to equity and to the academic achievement and social-emotional development of traditionally underserved students.
