POSITION AND DUTIES
The Undergraduate Academic Advisor works as part of an advising team providing guidance and information regarding academic requirements for the degree at Holy Names University. This position assists students in scheduling classes each semester, evaluating academic abilities and accomplishments, and setting academic goals. Responsibilities include monitoring academic progress of students; determining satisfactory progress toward degree; identifying current and potential needs or problem areas (e.g., study skills, tutoring); and making referrals and providing follow up as appropriate. This position also prepares materials such as student advising guides and checklists and also assists in presenting information about undergraduate programs to potential new students and parents. The Advising and Learning Resource Center serves all undergraduate students, as well as one graduate program. Assignments of specific majors or areas of specialty are determined based on the qualifications of individual advising staff. In addition each academic advisor has an administrative responsibility that supports the overall mission of the Advising Center. The currently open position may provide support to students in health related programs such as pre-nursing and Health Sciences.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree AND one year or more years of academic advising experience. Master’s degree in Education, Counseling or related field and additional advising experience preferred
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Detail oriented; strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience working with and supporting a diverse student population.
Experience with Student Information Systems preferred

This is a Regular, Full-Time, Exempt position reporting to the Executive Director of Advising and Learning Resources
