DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT California’s Adolescent Literacy Initiative (a.k.a. CALI Reads) is a grant awarded to the California Department of Education, who in turn has partnered with the Napa County Office of Education to administer and deliver the project. The objective of CALI Reads project is to improve middle school literacy and outcomes for students with disabilities by providing ongoing professional development (PD) training and coaching to teachers and administrators across California school districts. In its inception, this 5-year project will competitively select nine districts and corresponding middle schools with high numbers of struggling readers across California regions (North, Central, South).
GENERAL INFORMATION AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Project Director, the Senior Program Manager (PM) will oversee the administration of a five-year statewide literacy grant administered by Napa County Office of Education on behalf of the California Department of Education, Special Education Division. The PM will help in project launch through strategic planning, infrastructure development, and participant recruitment. Throughout the life of the project, the PM will perform a variety of managerial, technical, and collaborative planning roles. The PM will direct, coordinate and supervise the core in-house team (e.g., Data analyst, Technology developer, Site Coordinator, Fiscal Coordinator, and Administrative Assistant) and external subcontractors and consultants (e.g., Coaches) to fulfill the grant objectives. The PM will also oversee design, implementation, and training of a learning management system to deliver project content and monitor participant activity. In addition, the PM will provide day-to-day support of project activities such as the design of deliverables and contract specifications, data collection and analysis, monitoring budgets, and the publication of reports and stakeholder communication.
