The California Virtual Academies service students and hire in most California counties, except the following 16 counties: Del Norte, Siskiyou, Modoc, Humboldt, Trinity, Shasta, Lassen, Tehama, Glenn, Plumas, Sierra, Nevada, Alpine, Tuolumne, Mariposa and El Dorado. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Our Administrative Office is located in Simi Valley, CA, but most of our teachers and related service providers work from home.

ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES AND PROGRAM SPECIALIST POSITION: The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) deliver online/virtual home based instruction to TK -12 students in California. K12, inc. is our curriculum provider and you will instruct your students online via Blackboard/Class Connect Program. Education Specialists can have a wide variety of grades on your caseload (K-8 or 9-12). However, when teaching their specialized academic instruction classes, they will be geared towards a more narrow grade range and correlated to students’ goals and the standards those goals are based off of. Though most students are assigned regionally to an Education Specialist, you may end up with students on your caseload in any county we serve. Most communication is done virtually via teleconference, regular phone calls, and online, but there is the possibility that in special circumstances you will be asked to travel (rarely) to meet in-person for IEP meetings or other responsibilities. The position of Program Specialist, supports California School’s Special Education Team. Duties include attendance at high need IEP meetings, supervision of special education personnel, IEP team placement arrangements at alternative programs, implementation of IDEA mandates within an independent study, virtual program. Additionally, SELPA meeting attendance and correspondence, legal compliance and responses and additional duties as assigned by the director. Program Specialists work Full Time, Monday-Friday from 8:30AM-4:00PM. You are not allowed to have another job during these contracted hours.

SALARY INFORMATION: Full Time: $60,000-$66,000 annual salary based on experience We do participate in CalSTRS.
