Requirements / Qualifications
DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM Instruct CCHS AVPA and Culver City High School (CCHS) students in Career Technical Education (CTE) Professional Theatre. Take on the role of Creative Director for Theatre as part of the AVPA (Academy of Visual and Performing Arts) program. Students will be introduced to all aspects of the theatre, including acting, directing, playwriting, movement, and stage management. They will learn how to evaluate theatre and gain an appreciation for various styles of the art, as they study the history of theatre development in Europe and the United States using critical thinking skills and collaboratively working in teams on designing and mounting monologues, scenes and one-act plays. QUALIFICATIONS Possession of a valid California Designated Subjects Career Technical Education (CTE) Teaching Credential authorizing teaching Arts, Media & Entertainment at the secondary level or eligible to satisfy all requirements to apply for a preliminary credential in the authorized area indicated previously. English Learner authorization is required. The successful candidate for this position will be strongly committed and motivated to facilitating students’ understanding of Professional Theatre concepts and skills through project based learning. The ability and commitment to teach and work collaboratively with core subject and CTE teachers on the implementation and development of interdisciplinary Theatre Arts curriculum is required. Experience in running a theatre program and teaching performing arts is strongly desired. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
