About the Employer
Moreland serves Preschool-8th grade students across three cities in Santa Clara County. Our teachers educate approximately 3,800 students in four elementary schools, two TK-8 schools and one middle school. Teachers are provided regular preparation time, collaboration time, and professional development. Students are offered a wide variety of programs to support their academic, social, and emotional growth.

Performance Responsibilities:
- Assist the Principal in the monitoring of students’ academic progress, guidance and discipline, supervision, and student activities.
- Assist with staff development, supervision, and evaluation of staff.
- Assist in developing, administering, implementing, and monitoring instructional programs.
- Assist the Principal in implementing District/school goals and objectives.
- Review, revise, and implement the school discipline plan.
- Administer the total testing program through scheduling, supervising and evaluating test results.
- Provide articulation of the middle school program with K-5 and high school levels by scheduling counseling of fifth grade students by middle school counselors and cooperating with high school counselors to provide orientation sessions with eighth grade students.
- Assist the staff in utilizing District resources in the improvement of the school program.
- Assist the Principal with the management and operation of the school using evaluation criteria established for the Principal.
- Coordinate, arrange, and facilitate school meetings: student study team, open house, school tours, parent group meetings, and staff in-service.
- Coordinate and conduct professional development activities to support and instruct staff in closing the achievement gap while raising the achievement of all students.
- Communicate with parents on individual student’s progress and needs, educational programs within the school and District.
- Assist the Principal in planning the most effective use of curriculum materials, instruction materials, equipment, and facilities.
- Assist the Principal with monitoring and provide informational reports for the District/site: SARC, categorical programs, staff development activities, inventory, SST, and others.
- Assist with the school emergency disaster plan.
- Assume full responsibility for the school in the principal’s absence.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the school Principal.
Qualifications:
- Valid California Administrative Credential.
- Master’s degree with a major in school administration or curriculum development with graduate work in curriculum development, supervision, counseling and pupil personnel work.
- Minimum of five years’ successful teaching at the elementary and/or secondary levels, at least three of which must have been in a junior high or middle school.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Ability to plan, organize and help direct the operations, plant and personnel of an elementary, junior high, or middle school.
- Plan, implement, direct, and evaluate instructional and categorical programs in accordance with applicable laws.
- Understanding of school law administration and applicable sections of the State Education Code and other applicable laws.
- Effectively define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Experience developing junior high or middle school curriculum.
- Demonstrate skills in participatory management, decision-making, and school and program planning.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including: oral and written communication, tact, patience and courtesy.

Salary Placement: Appropriate level
Work Year: 209 days
Evaluation:
Performance evaluation will be conducted by the site Principal.
