Director of Admissions
Holy Names University (HNU) invites candidates to apply for the position of Director of Admissions. Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment Management, the Director manages the day-to-day operations of the Office of Admissions and provides leadership in developing and implementing innovative recruitment strategies and initiatives designed to attract students to the undergraduate and graduate programs. The position is responsible for student recruitment, marketing plans, and admission policies that achieve an incoming class optimal in number, strong in academic ability and diverse in age, racial, cultural and geographic background.
The Director will facilitate long-range planning using research and applied theory to analyze the market place in support of recruitment and marketing strategies; and aligning recruitment and admissions activities with the University’s strategic plan, mission, vision and goals. The Director will be expected to maintain a current understanding of the applicable policies and regulations affecting the university’s admissions process and will participate in professional organizations and professional development activities to assure progressive admissions practices. It will be essential to possess a thorough understanding of applicable federal, state and university policies and law governing admissions and recruitment and the release and disclosure of information.
As the leader of the Office of Admissions, the Director will provide development and training of departmental and university staff and faculty in areas related to admissions, marketing and recruitment of students. The Director is responsible for team leadership and team building within the office and will lead, inspire, coach, mentor, and support the professional development of the staff. The Director works in collaboration with the Marketing Office on the development of an integrated communication plan designed to positively influence the student decision process. The Director will also be responsible for liaising with the financial aid department, and an advanced knowledge of education policy, financial aid, will be necessary. The ideal candidate will also be familiar with Slate admissions software and will be expected to apply rapidly changing technology and best practices appropriately to the execution of the university’s enrollment and recruitment goals. Lastly, the Director will be expected to participate in institutional assessment procedures.
Desired Qualifications: 5-10 years of progressive experience in admissions and at least two years of supervisory experience. Successful candidates should have abilities to communicate effectively, both orally and through written work; have ability and willingness to travel within recruitment region via car and plane; ability and willingness to work evening and weekend hours as needed; have an excellent understanding of current admissions operations practices; ability to apply data and data reporting to regularly adjust operational and strategic priorities; have experience with developing and supporting enrollment partnerships; have a proven ability for productive and collegial partnerships with other directors; possess excellent supervision and problem-solving skills; ability to organize and prioritize workload; ability to meet deadlines; have strong knowledge of PC Windows based computing environment; and ability to organize and complete multiple tasks with student-centered attitude.
