Job Summary

The PE Assistant supports the Physical Education program by helping to implement age-appropriate activities that promote physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and the development of healthy lifestyle habits. This role works closely with the PE Teacher to provide supervision, instruction, and encouragement to students while upholding the Christ-centered mission of Mission Viejo Christian School.

Requirements / Qualifications

•A cover letter explaining your interest in Christian education and a summary of your experience in teaching PE and/or Coaching •Resume •Two current letters of recommendation (within 2 years) •Valid California Single Subject Teaching Credential preferred OR BA/BS in related field •First Aid and CPR Certification •Have criminal history clearance. (Fingerprinting and background check specific to Mission Viejo Christian School to be arranged upon hiring)

Each Employee Must Have: •A growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a calling to serve in Christian education. •Be in agreement with and sign the MVCS Statement of Faith. •Prior experience teaching in an educational setting. •Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with both students and parents. •Ability to work collaboratively with other faculty and staff members.

We are seeking a highly qualified Assistant Physical Education teacher who has strong leadership qualities. Applicant must have a passion for Christ, a passion for children, and be highly relational. Responsibilities: •Assist the PE Teacher in leading and supervising daily PE classes for Kindergarten through 8th grade. •Support instruction of physical education activities, games, and skill development. •Encourage students in personal effort, positive attitude, and respect for others in a Christ-like manner. •Help manage equipment setup and clean-up before and after class. •Monitor student behavior and ensure safety guidelines are followed during all activities. •Provide individual support to students as needed, fostering inclusion and participation. •Model and support the integration of biblical values and character development in PE instruction. •Collaborate with the PE Teacher and staff for special events such as Field Day, fitness assessments, and sports events. •Assist with attendance, student records, and general classroom organization as directed. •Attend staff meetings, devotions, and professional development opportunities when applicable.
