Position: Resource Specialist
Department: Special Education
FLSA: Exempt
Reports To: On-Site Administrator, Director of Psychological Services, SELPA Manager
Pay Grade: Certificated Salary Schedule
SUMMARY
Instruction to exceptional individuals; assist classroom teacher in meeting needs of exceptional children; assist in the coordination of auxiliary services related to needs of exceptional children; provide instructional planning, implementation and evaluation.
ESSENTIAL TYPES OF DUTIES (Examples)
· Establish and maintain Resource Specialist Program to serve pupils whose needs are more intensive than can be met in the regular classroom with modification, but are less intensive than those requiring special day class;
· Coordinate and participate in the identification, assessment, and instructional planning process for exceptional pupils as a member of the School Assessment Team;
· Assume responsibility for writing annual goals and short-term objectives of Individual Educational Plans for the students on Resource caseload, after obtaining input from appropriate personnel;
· Assist in the coordination of instruction and services to implement individual student's instructional plans;
· Provide consultation and support services to regular classroom teachers for pupils on the Resource Specialist caseload;
· Arrange for and conduct appropriate assessment needed to define pupils' specific learning needs and provide specialized areas of instruction on a basis to ameliorate the disability in the
shortest period of time;
· Monitor pupil progress on a regular basis and participate as an active member of the S.A.T. in annual reevaluations of I.E.P.s by presenting assessment data and proposed instructional plan for approval or modification;
· Provide inservice training regarding exceptional pupils, operation of the Resource Specialist Program and methods and materials appropriate to meeting pupils' individual needs.
· Perform other duties as may be assigned by either of the above administrators.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess or be eligible for appropriate California teaching credential.

Must possess or be eligible for appropriate California public school teaching credential in Special Education.
