Folsom Cordova Unified School District Position Classification PSYCHOLOGIST Definition: Under the direction of the Director of Psychological Services, plans, provides, and evaluates psychological services for pupils and provides related services to teachers, administrators, parents, and the community, as appropriate. Actively participates in the development and implementation of policies relative to special services. Qualifications: Credential A valid California School Psychologist Credential. Education: M.A. degree or equivalent preferred. Typical Duties and Responsibilities: ƒæ Implements the philosophy, goals, objectives, and policies of the District as adopted by the Board of Education, and the goals and objectives of the Department of Pupil Personnel Services. ƒæ Provides the legal identification for the placement of students in any special program. ƒæ Evaluates and places children with special problems, such as the aurally, visually, orthopedically handicapped, or aphasic students. ƒæ Attends the Admissions and Discharge Committee Meeting for Special Programs. ƒæ Re-evaluates all transferring-in EMR or TMR students. ƒæ Provides the required legal re-evaluation for EMR and TMR students. ƒæ Coordinates and supervises the annual review of all EH students in accordance with legal requirements. ƒæ Provides information for reports required by the State or District. ƒæ Responds to an emergency call from any school (example: an attempted suicide). ƒæ Evaluates annually the Office of Psychological Services¡¦ goals and objectives. ƒæ Provides services to teachers as consultants and on referred student basis. ƒæ Provides in-service training programs for teachers. ƒæ Helps teachers work effectively with the near-EH or near ¡VEMR students. ƒæ Acts as liaison between community agencies and school for decisions made about students with special problems. ƒæ Assists the principals to improve special programs. ƒæ Develops with the counselors in the secondary schools ways to provide psychological services to the teachers and students of those schools. ƒæ Provides counseling services to special education students and/or their parents on a limited basis. ƒæ Provides field service for college and university students who are in training as prospective Psychological Services workers. ƒæ Provides information to the community regarding psychological services of the District. ƒæ Participates in special studies and projects developed in the District or initiated in the Psychological Services Department. ƒæ Disseminates new information on psychology as it comes from the publishers by summarizing articles and sending these summaries to principals and counselors to be posted at the schools. ƒæ Adheres to the Code of Ethics, as stated in District Policy. ƒæ Continues to grow professionally through attendance at conferences, workshops, professional meetings and college courses.
