      Welcome to St. Mary of the Angels Catholic School! The Catholic presence in Ukiah began over 135 years ago, and the roots of Catholic education in Ukiah are over 125 years old. People choose to work and study at St. Mary’s for these reasons: • Provides a Catholic education and religious environment that upholds values, ethics and standards of behavior • Kindergarten through Eighth Grade campus, allowing the opportunity for middle school students to act as mentors to younger students • State-of-the-art Science Lab • iPads one-to-one in seventh and eighth grade • Wireless accessibility and classroom document cameras, projectors and laptops integrating technology in the curriculum • Computer Lab, and computer classes for K-8 • Math program offers Algebra I, II, and Geometry • Support in Math and Reading through the computer lab and Reading Resource • Music instruction twice a week, K-8 • Spanish Program in grades K-6; 0 Period high school Spanish for 7th and 8th • Gardening program K-6 emphasizing science, sustainability and the environment • Community Service Program for students Grades 6-8 • Diocesan-wide Catholic Schools League sports program in grades 5-8 • Seventh and eighth grade trip to Washington D.C. • Seventh and eighth grade Yosemite Science Institute camp • Field trips in all grades • Daily hot lunch program featuring homemade food • Extended Care Program (Kids Club) from 7:15 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. • Excellent and gifted faculty and caring staff • A community of committed and involved parents • WASC and WCEA accredited All classroom teachers are directly responsible to the Principal of the school in which they teach. Each teacher will adhere to and enforce the policies and regulations of the Diocese of Santa Rosa and St. Mary of the Angels School. Each teacher will also perform duties related to regular classroom assignment and additional duties as assigned by the Principal. Responsibilities: • Effectively organize and present lessons • Use knowledge of sound principles of learning in presenting instruction. • Demonstrate knowledge of the curriculum and subject matter for which the employee is responsible. • Diagnose student achievement levels. • Formulate long-range and short-term objectives for students. • Use appropriate lesson objectives for students. • Use skills sequencing within a subject area. • Evaluate student progress. • Establish conditions under which students exercise self-discipline, leadership, citizenship and initiative. • Create a classroom environment which promotes learning. • Maintain and submit student records in a timely manner. • Plan and schedule appropriate use of volunteers and assistants. • Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with students, peers, administrators and parents/community. • Follow diocesan and school procedures, rules and regulations. • Demonstrate a concern for student health and safety. • Collaborate with others to fulfill responsibilities related to goals and priorities at the school and diocese level. • Accept and fulfill assigned responsibilities and duties in a timely and efficient manner. • Participate in professional growth opportunities. • Promote a positive professional image by action, communication, and appearance. • Maintain confidentiality in all professional relationships.
