The Southern Oregon Education Service District (SOESD) is seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable Transition Specialists to carry out the important work of Oregon’s Youth Transition Program (YTP). The purpose of the YTP is to provide a new pattern of services to students with disabilities beginning when they are still in high school and continuing into the early transition years. As a transition specialist you will have the unique ability to have a powerful impact on the community, preparing students with disabilities for employment or career related post secondary education/training. Through this dynamic work, the Transition Specialists form collaborative relationships with school staff, students and families, vocational rehabilitation, institutions of higher ed., and other local agencies and businesses to deliver Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) in five main areas; job exploration counseling, work-based learning experiences, guidance on post-secondary education opportunities, workplace readiness training, and coaching in self-advocacy. If you are sensitive about the barriers to employment and post-secondary education opportunities experienced by students with disabilities, and are passionate about helping young people who face these challenges find a path to success as adults, this position is for you!

Minimum Qualifications: - High School Diploma. - Three years' experience, preferred, working in a transition program (or educational setting requiring similar skills) and/or providing vocational services to students in a school or community setting, OR three years' experience working in an agency setting providing transition, vocational or related services to youth. - Demonstrated knowledge of effective delivery of transition services, community and employment expectations, and vocational training strategies for students with disabilities. - Demonstrated competence regarding use of computers and other technology devices and systems for communication, data recording and reporting, and student instructions and support. - Ability to obtain CPR and first aid certification. - Possess valid Oregon Driver License.
