Under the direction of the Principal, the Band Teacher is responsible for instructing 6-8 school students in the field of instrumental music, jazz, concert or marching bands. The ability to apply differentiated instruction methods to teach students in small or large group lessons in a classroom comprised of students with skills at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels is essential. Provide a quality band program for all students. Motivate students to develop an interest in, and an appreciation of the art of music. Develop knowledge, skills, and talents of students in the field of music, instruments, and use a variety of instructional techniques appropriate to students’ interests and abilities. Develop the talents of students in the field of music and develop knowledge and skills in listening to and reading music. Support each student in achieving a higher level of personal skill in gaining an enhanced understanding and appreciation for band music, and an increased level of self-esteem through rehearsals and performances. Ability to teach music theory classes.
