Albert Einstein Middle School’s new principal will be required to work with stakeholders - including teachers, staff, community and a strong PTA - to build a foundation of equity and access that prepares students for high school readiness, and for postsecondary success in college and careers. The school’s student body of approximately 720 students reflects the rich diversity and culture of its location in the Rosemont area of East Sacramento: 32% of its students are Hispanic/Latino, 18% African-American, 7.7% Asian, 30.1% White and 6.5% students of two or more races. In addition, 74.2% of the student population is socioeconomically disadvantaged, and 17.7% receive Special Education services.

Candidates must possess a demonstrated ability to lead a culture that fosters creativity and an innate interest in exploration and discovery in students. To promote these values, Albert Einstein offers a diverse array of programs and activities, including: Theater, Speech and Debate, Digital Media, Introduction to Spanish, Orchestra, Band, C++ Coding, Advanced Art and Robotics. At Albert Einstein, the goal is to foster achievement through high-level discussion, academic rigor, and conceptual understanding. Einstein’s new principal will need to build a rigorous program that addresses low student performance. 2017 CAASP results reveal 56.31% of students have not met standards in English Language Arts (ELA) and 65.3% of students have not met standards in Mathematics. The Spring 2017 California School Dashboard further identifies 2 of 8 disaggregated student groups with high needs in ELA (red or orange rating): Students with Disabilities and African American. Furthermore, 5 of 8 disaggregated student groups exhibit high needs in Mathematics (red or orange rating): Socioeconomically Disadvantaged, Students with Disabilities, African American, Hispanic, and Two or More Races.
