WORK ON A SCHOOL SCHEDULE! 6.5 hours a day Get 10 weeks off in the summer No shifts/weekends/holidays About School Nursing Oakland's youth suffer disproportionately from a number of chronic health conditions. School nurses work with medical providers, teachers, principals, support staff and families to help these students stay in school ready to learn. School nurses provide direct medical care, emergency care, first aid/illness care, screen hearing and vision, check immunization status, train staff, monitor communicable diseases and oversee procedures. Every day brings something new and different and working in this vibrant and diverse community is a joy. Salary and Benefits: - OUSD offers a competitive salary (work only 38 weeks per year), $58,774.70 to 83,436.65, based on years of experience and education. - Benefits include full medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their families, plus life insurance, long-term disability coverage, and a retirement plan. - Across Bay Area public school districts, employees pay an average of 42% ($9,000) for family coverage on the least expensive plan. In OUSD, employees can pay much less. OUSD will assist you with the process of obtaining a Preliminary School Nurse Credential!
