NWC+ is one of LA's first hybrid learning high schools. Our students have their core classes in-person once-a-week and are on independent study for the rest of the week and are free to choose when and where they will complete their work for the rest of the school week - either at home or in our awesome & comfortable student lounge. Many of our students have outside jobs, passions, or help support their families. We're looking for a personable, dedicated, creative, and technologically focused math teacher ready to take our hybrid math program to the next level! Strong organization skills is a must. The position is to teach in our Hybrid and also in our Traditional High School program. The position will teach once-a-week on our Hybrid HS Program teaching one of Geometry, one section of Algebra 2, and one section of Probability & Statistics among other administrative duties associated with Independent Study. You will also teach two sections of Algebra 1 in our traditional high school every day. Extensive math knowledge and one-on-one tutoring outside of class is a MUST!
Requirements / Qualifications
All applicants must possess a valid CA Teaching Credential in their assigned subject area. CLAD Certification or equivalent recongznized by State of CA All applicants must submit to and pass a LiveScan background check.

Performance Objectives:
1. Connects with individual students quickly and is able to establish a personal and meaningful relationship. Our Teachers must be able to develop a relationship built on understanding, trust, mutual respect. We are looking for people that truly care about their students beyond the school day. Many of our students have not found success in a traditional program.
2. Able to correctly identify strengths and weakness in students using a variety of means. Sucessful hybrid teachers must be able to use data and other indicators to identify patterns of achievement or challenges. Mentor teachers would then work with students to develop and implement successful strategies to enhance their learning.
3. Effectively communicates and works productively with wide range of people for the success of their students. A student’s team may consist of the school Director, Special Education, Parent, Lawyers. Specialists, etc. all working together for the benefit of the student.
4. Successfully manages many tasks at once. At times a Teacher at NWC+ is supervising up to 25 students in 6 different subjects each, monitoring their engagement time, checking their quality of their work, grading/entering assignments, helping out in The Lounge, preparing and teaching seminars classes. Applicants must be able to oversee many aspects of the position with great attention to detail and a willingness to go above and beyond in all aspects of the position.
5. Provides engaging and challenging instruction to all students. A great Mentor Teacher is able to use a variety of instructional and assessment styles to ensure that students are not only engaged with the curriculum, but are also held responsible for their learning. A Mentor Teacher is able to differentiate the materials to match their student’s abilities and interests.
