GENERAL & INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC TEACHER K-8
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Appropriate California Single Subject teaching credential authorizing the instruction of music education or California Multiple Subject teaching credential
- Ability to communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
- Organizational skills
- Working knowledge of the California Music content standards
- Teaching experience in schools preferable
- Valid California Driver’s License – Proof of Insurance Coverage
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Provide a comprehensive, standards-based general music program to grades K-6 weekly. Teaching should include singing, movement, Orff instruments, recorders and Kodaly.
- Integrate technology into music lessons.
- Direct 5th-8th grade percussion ensemble including Steel Pans.
- Prepare students for the Winter and Spring Concerts, community events and school assemblies.
- Duties will include before and after school rehearsals for instrumental ensembles.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialist teachers to incorporate cross-curricular instruction.
- Assist students in developing good character.
- Maintain school instruments and music supplies, and make recommendations to the school for ordering additional materials.
- Provide feedback to parents on student progress (eg. progress reports and report cards) and maintain communication with parents.
- Perform school related responsibilities.
