GENERAL & INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC TEACHER K-8

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Appropriate California Single Subject teaching credential authorizing the instruction of music education or California Multiple Subject teaching credential
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of the California Music content standards
  • Teaching experience in schools preferable
  • Valid California Driver’s License – Proof of Insurance Coverage




DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Provide a comprehensive, standards-based general music program to grades K-6 weekly. Teaching should include singing, movement, Orff instruments, recorders and Kodaly.
  • Integrate technology into music lessons.
  • Direct 5th-8th grade percussion ensemble including Steel Pans.
  • Prepare students for the Winter and Spring Concerts, community events and school assemblies.
  • Duties will include before and after school rehearsals for instrumental ensembles.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialist teachers to incorporate cross-curricular instruction.
  • Assist students in developing good character.
  • Maintain school instruments and music supplies, and make recommendations to the school for ordering additional materials.
  • Provide feedback to parents on student progress (eg. progress reports and report cards) and maintain communication with parents.
  • Perform school related responsibilities.
