The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. The OCDE is looking for talented and enthusiastic Interpreters/Translators to provide interpretation/translation services for OCDE school districts, programs, staff, parents, and students for meetings, interviews, and telephone calls in one to one and group settings.

The OCDE is looking for talented and enthusiastic Interpreters/Translators to provide interpretation/translation services for OCDE school districts, programs, staff, parents, and students for meetings, interviews, and telephone calls in one to one and group settings. The Candidates selected will: Interpret at IEP meetings, Board Meetings, Parent teacher conferences, and other school events at the districts and County level. Translate complex documents presented by OCDE staff, school districts, and other individuals both orally and in writing. Prepare written translations of instructional and educational materials, correspondence, and forms from one language to another. Review translated material for accuracy, content, readability, grammar, and syntax. Respond to inquiries from staff, parents, teachers, administrators, and the general public; interpret and explain words and phrases for meaning and appropriateness.
We are looking for Interpreters/Translators with the following bilingual skills: Spanish/English Vietnamese/English Mandarin/English Korean/English Farsi/English Arabic/English Japanese/English Tagalog/English American Sign Language Strong candidates will have three years of experience composing and editing written material including at least one year of experience translating materials in English and the specified foreign language and one year of experience in providing oral interpretation from English to the specific foreign language.
