Speech Language Pathologist Position Summary
The Speech Language Pathologist administers diagnostic speech and language evaluations, provides direct patient services, and instructs/educates patients and caregivers following established policies and protocols. The position is responsible for working directly with the children and parents and ensuring that each child receives optimal individualized treatment. In addition, the position also collaborates with the clinical team, educators, and families to ensure optimal growth and development for each child. Duties and Responsibilities
-
Evaluates and assesses pediatric patients with a variety of communication disorders, voice and swallowing impairment, and/or neurological defects
-
Educates patient, family, teachers and other caregivers in treatment and home management techniques
-
Participates in continuing education to continually improve skills and abilities and stay abreast of current technologies/practices
-
Collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest quality and consistency of care
-
Offers appropriate referrals, resources and education to parents
-
Ensures compliance with legal issues including but not limited to patient confidentiality and risk management; ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations

Performs other duties as assigned by manager
Qualifications
-
Master’s Degree in speech-language pathology, current California license in speech and language pathology, and one year of related experience

Current CPR certification

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills

Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm

Bilingual skills a plus

Able to work collaboratively with multiple health professionals in a busy and complex environment using tact, diplomacy, and discipline

Strong charting/documentation skills

May be required to lift up to 40 pounds

Kneel or sit on floor for up to 30 minutes at a time while working with children
