Job Summary: The Clinician is responsible for establishing and implementing quality clinical treatment and case management for children and adolescents with special mental health needs. Clinicians shall provide individual, group, and family therapy as well as rehabilitative services and case management in whatever setting is most beneficial for the identified client. In addition, the Clinician is responsible for completing all documentation and written reports required by the Agency. Essential Functions: 1. Provides comprehensive mental health assessments on assigned clients to determine the need for mental health services. Develops treatment plans and goals based on assessed areas of needs and strengths. Monitors and evaluates client’s progress on identified goals in the treatment plan. 2. Completes all required documentation in a timely manner for each assigned client and maintains a comprehensive set of treatment records. 3. Acts as the liaison between the program and family/community agencies including individuals such as Parents/Caregivers, Case Managers, County Social Workers, Teachers/Education Providers, and Probation Officers. The Clinician shall work with the family or care providers in the implementation of treatment plans. 4. Provides individual, family, and group counseling based on the needs of the clients served. Minimum Required Education and Experience: 1. Completion of a clinical program with a Master's or Ph.D. degree in a field of behavioral science from an accredited educational institution. 2. Holds a current license registration issued by appropriate state agency. Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) license may be considered with prior approval.

 Non-Public School and Group Home Residential Setting

 

Victor Treatment Centers (VTC) is a non-profit residential treatment program and non-public school that exists to provide a healthy, healing living environment for severely emotionally disturbed youth who have such great needs that they are not able to succeed in family situations and/or lower levels of care. Children age 8 through 18 who have not been successful in family situations, foster homes, or group homes can find success within the Victor Treatment Centers environments. VTC provides 24/7 supervision in conjunction with intensive mental health services. VTC residential services are based on a foundation of strength-based and relationship-based approaches that support the optimal recovery and resiliency for these youth. STATEMENT OF THE JOB

As a Clinician/Therapist you will be responsible for establishing and implementing quality clinical treatment and case management for severely emotionally disturbed children and adolescents in our school/residential treatment programs. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Development of needs and services plan and discharge plan; ongoing assessment to identify changing needs of the clients on their caseload. Consult with the residential program in the implementation of the plans. 
Counseling with assigned students/clients aimed at preparing the client to analyze and better understand the reason for placement and to handle associated emotional problems, resolving the difficulties between child and family that led to the need for placement, and planning for the return of the child. 
Act as the liaison between the program and community agencies and individuals such as Case managers, County Social Workers, and Probation Officers. Shall consult with the school setting to assure quality education services are available and provided.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • requires BBS registered MFT-Intern, ASW, or licensed MFT or LSW
  • Prefer prior experience working in residential treatment, prior experience with severely emotionally disturbed children or adolescents.
  • Must have valid CA driver's license and clean DMV record
  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical including a drug test and physical fitness test.
