Bridges Charter School is a learning community serving grades K -8. We are committed to academic mastery founded on a Whole Child education in which every student is healthy, safe, engaged, supported and challenged. Our emphasis in Whole Child education is not just on teaching facts as a way of knowing about the world, it is on providing experiences where students integrate layers of meaning and learn processes necessary to engaging their world, and the people with whom they share it. All Bridges students are expected to achieve academic competence and critical thinking proficiency balanced with social-emotional confidence. Values incorporated into the experiential learning environment include: development of personal responsibility, responsibility to the community, healthy habits and environmental sustainability. Whole Child education allows our teachers to help prepare students to work in careers that have not yet been invented; to think both critically and creatively; and to evaluate information, solve complex problems, and communicate well. We expect that the teachers we hire become leaders in the field. Teachers at Bridges do not just deliver curriculum via textbooks, but we expect that our teachers become engaged members of our learning community. We hire teachers who are creative, collaborative and innovative leaders in Education and we provide many opportunities for professional growth and development.
