BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Organize the care, storage and accountability of equipment
  • Follow league/section practice and competitive season schedules, including playoffs
  • Compete in tournaments/invitational as arranged with the Principal and Athletic Director
  • Practice five days per week, Monday through Friday, while Saturday practices are permissible
  • Scout future opponents as appropriate
  • Attend athletic banquets
  • Responsible for supervision in locker rooms, during practices, games and transportation
  • Resoponsible for pre and post season inventory of equipment and uniforms
  • Ensure student have proper medical, academic and athletic clearance through the Athletic Director
  • Keep medical emergency forms with you at all times
  • Assure setup of venue on game days
  • Arrange for publicitiy with local media; call in scores to local newspapers
  • Coordinate information with school staff and parents regarding schedules, team lists, team photographs, and transportation
  • Aid and assist the Varsity Coach when ever necessary or requested in dealing with the logistics of the overall program
  • Develop players fundamentally and strategically for the athletics program
  • The athletic coaches must promote the entire program and be loyal to the TUSD JV and Varsity Coach

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must possess current CPR/First Aid certificates
  2. Negative TB results
  3. DOJ/ FBI background clearance
  4. Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate

To complete the Coaching Application successfully, please include ONLY coaching experience on the Previous Employment phase of the Edjoin application. For those applicants selected for a paid or volunteer position, the following materials/certificates must be provided at the scheduled appointment with the TUSD District Office. a) CPR/ First Aid certificate b) Negative TB results c) Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate

- CPR and First-Aid renewal courses will be sponsored by TUSD athletics if employed. -The ASCC is an option for non-certificated individuals who are required to obtain fingerprint clearance through a criminal background check completed by the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) prior to starting a paid or non-paid position working with pupils in a student activity program sponsored by a school district or county office of education. - Concussion in Sports course by NFHS highlights the impact of sports-related concussion on athletes, teaches how to recognize a suspected concussion, and provides protocols to manage a suspected concussion with steps to help players return to play safely after a concussion. - CardiacWise is a free online educational program designed to educate coaches, parents, athletes on the prevention of sudden cardiac arrest in athletes. This course is approximately 15 minutes in length. Certificate of Completion will be given at the end of the course. - This NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching course provides a unique student-centered curriculum for interscholastic teacher/coaches, assisting them in creating a healthy and age-appropriate athletic experience that supports the educational mission of our nation's schools. - Heat Illness Training
