*This position is primarily responsible for maintenance and deep cleaning projects including, but not limited to, shampooing carpets and polishing floors. 

Maintenance Custodian

The Maintenance Custodian a classified, non-exempt position with Element Education, Inc. (EEI). Under the direction of the Chief Business Officer (CBO) and Regional Manager(s), the Maintenance Custodian is responsible for performing daytime and evening custodial activities at resource centers and administrative offices to maintain buildings and adjacent grounds areas in a clean, orderly and secure condition; perform routine repair and maintenance to facilities.

Essential Functions
General Administration
1. Perform responsible daytime and evening custodial activities as assigned by the Chief Business Officer and Regional Manager of a location including, but not limited to: clean classrooms, restrooms, offices and related facilities as assigned; sweep, scrub, mop, wax and polish floors and vacuum rugs and carpets in classrooms, offices, workshops and other work areas; spot clean and shampoo carpets; spot mop spills; remove debris; dust and polish furniture and woodwork; clean whiteboards; clean lunch tables, benches and eating areas; clean and disinfect drinking fountains, sinks and toilets; fill dispensers with towels, soap and toilet paper; clean mirrors, tile, windows and walls.
2. Perform emergency cleanup resulting from vandalism, breakage, spillage, or illness.
3. Perform routine repair and maintenance to school facilities and equipment.
4. Confer with CBO and Regional Manager(s) regarding care and cleaning program at assigned resource center.
5. Complete work order requests in a timely manner. Keep the person who initiated the work up to date on the status of the work order and when it has been completed.
6. Monitor custodial supplies; determine quantity of custodial stock and inventory items needed; order custodial supplies; work with regional staff to receive, verify, and distribute supplies and equipment.
7. Lock and unlock doors and gates as appropriate; maintain security of assigned areas according to established guidelines; turn alarm system on and off as appropriate.
8. Dispose of trash according to established procedures; follow established sanitation procedures and standards.
9. Assemble, adjust and arrange furniture; stack and store furniture, equipment and supplies.
10. Be available for call back in emergency situations.
11. Deliver a variety of materials as requested.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Two years’ experience performing custodial work and non-technical maintenance.
3. Knowledge of proper methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in custodial work and nontechnical maintenance including basic methods of cleaning and preserving floors, carpets, furniture, walls, and fixtures.
4. Knowledge of requirements of maintaining school buildings in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
5. Knowledge of appropriate safety precautions and procedures including proper methods of storing equipment, materials, and supplies; proper lifting techniques.
6. Ability to observe and report the need for maintenance and repair.
7. Ability to work independently with little direction.
8. Demonstrate considerable knowledge of computers and all aspects of the Microsoft Office Professional software programs.
9. Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and make deadlines.
10. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
11. Demonstrates good judgement, approachable and professional, solid problem solving and logical thinking skills, ability to handle multiple tasks, self-motivated, and well-organized.
12. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships.

Salary: $14.04 - $21.78
