Under the supervision of Principal or Assistant Principal, serves as a preschool classroom teacher for preschool-aged children and provides instruction, care and assistance to preschool-age children at a designated child care center; develops and implements lesson plans and instructional activities to meet the needs of children; prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports related to assigned activities.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by college level coursework in early childhood education including 24 units in Early Childhood Education and one year educational experience working with preschool-age children. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: • Valid State of California Child Development Teacher Permit, Master Teacher Permit, Site Supervisor Permit or Program Director Permit. • Health Screening and fingerprint clearance through Community Care Licensing.

Requirements / Qualifications
Qualifications: •Valid State of California Child Development Teacher Permit, Master Teacher Permit, Site Supervisor Permit, or Program Director Permit are required for this position. Teaching credentials alone are not a substitute for one of the 4 permits listed. •A Bachelor’s degree in child development or related field highly preferred. •Health Screening and fingerprint clearance through Community Care Licensing required. •Experience working with preschool age students. Essential Duties: •Plans, organizes, and implements a program for preschool aged children utilizing the CA Preschool Learning Foundations. •Evaluates the individual needs of each child, maintaining child assessments and records. •Builds home/school relationship with families, including ongoing communication. •Creates and maintains a clean, safe, nurturing, and positive environment conducive to the growth and development of young children using effective positive behavioral interventions and supports. •Participates in team teaching efforts, attends staff development opportunities, and school functions. •Collaborates with Early Childhood Education professionals, families, and community members for improved teaching and learning. •Directs and trains Instructional Assistants to promote effective instructional practices within the classroom. •Adheres to all state, federal, and local laws.
New state requirements are now in place for all preschool employees and are now a condition of employment: *Proof of pertussis, measles and influenza are required *Employee may submit a written waiver for influenza *Employee's doctor may waive all immunizations
