SNACK BAR MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision, has responsibility for the operation of the high school snack bar.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION

May include, but not limited to:

  1. Supervises the operation of the snack bar
  2. Coordinates the snack bar menu planning, prepares and serves food
  3. Sets up facilities
  4. Performs and supervises clean-up and maintenance of food display areas and equipment
  5. Interviews and trains student assistants
  6. Schedules, supervises, and evaluates student assistants’ work
  7. Keeps records of amounts of food in snack bar
  8. Assists with ordering of food and supplies
  9. Receives items delivered to snack bar, stocks items and insures that proper amounts have been received
  10. Determines amounts to prepare daily
  11. Records sales volume daily; accounts for daily receipts and turns them in to District office
  12. Performs, as directed, other duties consistent with the general areas of responsibility surrounding the job description.

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge and Application of:

Proper methods of preparing and serving tasty and attractive food; operation of kitchen machines and appliances; kitchen sanitation methods; safe working procedures in performance of duty; proper cleaning of cafeteria equipment; methods of taking inventory of foods and supplies; techniques of supervision and training.

 Ability to:

  • Supervise and get along with student help
  • Work harmoniously with school personnel, students, and fellow workers
  • Be willing to try new ideas, products, and methods
  • Operate common appliances, order foods and supplies when needed
  • Make most economical use of left-overs
  • Hear and speak to conduct normal in-person and telephone conversations
  • Move to perform the duties described in an efficient and safe manner          

Education / Experience:

Education:  Equivalent to successful completion of the eighth grade.

Experience:  One year of experience in a public or commercial establishment performing the duties of helper, or one year in the capacity of cafeteria assistant.

 If required, to operate a motor vehicle during the course of employment, must possess a valid Class 2 Operator’s License and be insurable at the standard rate applied to the Escalon Unified School District.

 Must meet District minimum requirements through practical and/or written examination

 Salary Level: 30 - Classified Salary Schedule
