O&M Job Description An Orientation and Mobility Specialist assists students with visual impairments in achieving maximum independence through instruction in safe and efficient travel within the home, school, and community. Services also include, but are not limited to, instruction in compensatory skills such as daily living skills, self-advocacy, and recreation/leisure skills as related to orientation and mobility and self-determination. Community-based instruction is assumed and is a critical component of the orientation and mobility program. **Must be willing to obtain Teacher of the Blind and Visually Obtained teaching credential through the CTC

Sonja Biggs Educational Services, Inc. is looking for a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) who is willing to become dual certified with a Teacher of the Blind and Visually Impaired (TVI) credential.
Duties:
Will perform all the duties of an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M) including:
- Being an Itinerant Teacher
- Instruct in Orientation, Mobility, Braille, technology and daily living skills
- Perform assessments
- Communicate between parents, students and school district personnel
- Teach all components of the expanded core curriculum
- Work with a wide variety of students, including regular education, multiply impaired, and resource students
