Requirements / Qualifications
The Director III of Special Education will be responsible to the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction for administering the District’s Special Education Program. The position requires the planning, coordination, and supervision of Special Education staff and programs including: Psychologist and Speech Language Pathologist Services, Occupational Therapists, Resource Specialists, Special Day Classes (Learning Handicapped and Severely Handicapped), Visually Handicapped, Orientation and Mobility Handicapped, Hearing Impaired, Emotionally Disturbed, Home Teaching, and others are required. The Director III provides consultation to District’s guidance personnel. The Director III shall recommend policies, procedures and protocols that ensure quality educational opportunities and Individual Education Program (IEP) compliance for Special Education students at both elementary and secondary levels, as well as supporting staff so that they are successful to that end. He/she shall serve as a member of a professional learning team and participate fully in problem solving and implementing the District vision.
