The Rocklin Unified School District is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer – Programming and Data Emphasis to serve as a senior technical leader within the Technology Services Department. This position is, first and foremost, a Systems Engineer role requiring deep expertise in enterprise networking, server infrastructure, SAN/NAS storage, backup and recovery systems, and district-wide fleet management. The successful candidate will possess the full technical foundation expected of a seasoned enterprise systems engineer. What distinguishes this role is the additional emphasis on programming, automation, and data analytics. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with scripting languages, cloud platforms, API development, and data visualization — capabilities that will be applied on top of a strong systems engineering foundation to modernize, automate, and extend the district’s technology infrastructure. This position works closely with the Data, Integration, and Analytics Specialist to build a robust data infrastructure integrating modern data management and AI systems. It also provides technical mentorship and training to district-level and site-based technology staff. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education, experience, and industry certifications may be considered. EXPERIENCE: Minimum four (4) years of progressive advancement in enterprise systems engineering with demonstrated hands-on experience in networking, server administration, storage, backup/recovery, and fleet management. Experience in programming, data analytics, and cloud platforms is strongly preferred. PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS: • CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent networking certification • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or equivalent • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent cloud certification • Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid California Driver's License.
