Job Title: Custodian (80% FTE) Location: Chartwell School, Seaside, California Position Type: 32 Hours/Week, Year-Round, Non-Exempt Salary Range: $60,000 – $70,000 Annually (DOE) Benefits: Eligible for full medical, dental, vision, retirement, and paid time off benefit Position Overview Chartwell School seeks a reliable, proactive, and detail-oriented Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our students, staff, and visitors. This 80% position (32 hours/week) is year-round and includes full benefits. The custodian works as a key member of the facilities team and reports to the Director of Facilities. Key Responsibilities Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas Ensure campus cleanliness, including trash removal, floor care, window washing, and disinfecting high-touch surfaces Respond promptly to cleaning and maintenance requests from staff Monitor and restock cleaning and hygiene supplies (restrooms) Secure campus buildings at the end of the shift (lock doors, turn off lights, check alarms) Assist with event setup and takedown (tables, chairs, AV equipment) Collaborate with the facilities team to support safety and emergency procedures Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required- AA or BA preferred Minimum 2 years of custodial or facilities maintenance experience preferred Ability to work independently and manage time effectively Strong attention to detail and pride in work quality Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks Clear background check and eligibility to work in a school setting Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment Schedule 32 hours/week Afternoon to evening shift preferred, with some flexibility for occasional weekend or special event needs To Apply Please submit a cover letter and resume to jobs@chartwell.org
