The Vacancy: There are several, part – time, (3.75 hours a day), school year, permanent positions at a school site. Positions are for the infant and preschool special education programs and one-on-one classroom aides to work with students with special needs (including behavioral, medical, etc.). This recruitment will also be used to develop an eligibility list to fill future part-time vacancies and substitute/temporary positions in this classification for up to six months. The Position: Under immediate supervision, assist the site supervisor and classroom teacher in a variety of developmentally appropriate activities for children ages twelve months through six years old. Positions in this class are established principally to assist teachers in the care and supervision of children in the District’s infant and preschool special education programs. It is distinguished from the Instructional Aide position in that the primary responsibility is to assist in the general care for the whole child whereas Instructional Aides are responsible to assist in formal instruction.

Required Qualifications: A High School Diploma or GED; an AA degree or a minimum of 48 college units; and possession of a valid First Aid/CPR training certificate prior to starting the assignment and maintain current at all times. Bilingual in any language including American Sign Language is desirable. Selection Procedure: The selection process will consist of a written exam and a qualifications appraisal interview (each weighted 50%). The following must be submitted with the application:

  • Copy of Transcript
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (Three, no older than a year, signed and dated)
  • Proof of HS Graduation
  • Resume
