Description of Position Full-time, highly qualified, teacher with credential and special interest and competencies in teaching middle school curriculum. The Intellectual Virtues Academy Middle School Teacher has educational beliefs and values that are aligned with an IV approach and possess and model intellectual virtues themselves. The teacher understands and promotes the school’s distinctive mission and vision both within and outside the immediate school community. The Middle School Teacher will instruct students in middle school academic subject matter in addition to faithfully implementing and practicing IVA’s unique character-based educational model as identified in provided lesson plans. Hours and Pay The long term substitute teacher position pays a daily rate of $280. The current long term substitute position is to fill a vacancy in IVA’s Science teaching department. Although not guaranteed, it is expected that this substitute position will be available from approximately January 2024 through May or June of 2024. It is expected that this long term sub will cover the position for the duration of the vacancy, or until the maximum number of days that they are permitted to cover the class based on their teaching credentials, whichever is less. If an additional teaching vacancy arises after the one described above, IVA may offer the new coverage position to this long term sub, depending on approval from the IVA principal and also on the staff members credentialing. Job Goal In the absence of a permanent classroom teacher to help students to learn subject matter and/or skills that are required for scheduled lessons and to provide meaningful instruction, grading, attendance taking, and feedback for assigned classes.
