About the Employer

The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary

OCDE’s Information Technology (IT) Division is making a difference in Orange County schools by providing services and leveraging technology to simplify, enhance, and provide innovative business and educational solutions. The IT Division is committed to providing creative and collaborative ideas tailored to each district's specific needs. We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual to serve as Network Specialist for the Information Technology Division. The selected candidate will implement, administer and provide technical support/problem resolution for employee and student desktop/laptop computers, Chromebooks, iPads, operating systems, desktop applications, printers, peripheral devices and other technology used in an educational environment. The person selected will install, configure, deploy, update and repair a variety of supported devices. They will maintain user accounts, user profile, user/group access and rights, student active directory and Google Workspace for Education. Some of the duties will include, testing, and configuration of desktop application upgrades, service packs and patches, as well as customized user applications and departmental software applications including creating documentation and providing training on supported devices. This position visits a variety of work locations, which include juvenile hall/probation sites. Selected candidate must pass an additional background clearance by the Probation Department.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Associate’s degree in computer technology or a closely related field. • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience deploying and supporting laptops, computers, Chromebooks, tablets, printers, peripheral devices and other technology or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
